Writing Meta Tags

There is much debate about the current value of meta tags. I still find them very effective – both as an end in themselves and also as a guide to producing better and more search friendly content. Although Google apparently ignore their contents, MSN and Yahoo both still utilise the site title and description meta tags in their search algorithms. MSN’s newly launched web site still makes reference to the value of the key words meta tag.

Meta tags are so called because they sit above the site – in the “Head” section – and are not visible to the casual site visitor. The meta tags can be found between the and lines of HTML code, as the description suggests, at the top of the page.

There are certain tricks and techniques in search engine optimization industry, which can fetch you real quick and top ranking in short run and get banned for ever, which I am discussing in this article. Before optimizing any site, always follow code of ethics and never spam.

Meta Tags are very important for your website’s visibility. Many search engines read them from your site when you submit it to them. META tags were developed and made a HTML standard for the purpose of addressing specific information about your web page that does not affect the way your page actually looks. Overstuffing Metatags : Believe me or not , there are still many people and web masters around who think that meta tags are magic bullet. Its not anymore.
